THE STORY
Janet and Mitchell are trying to get Ian, Maggie and Rachel to church. After the car lands in a snowdrift, their parents turn shadows of barns, bushes and trees into scenes from the nativity. A conversation about presents helps Ian discover the pleasure of giving.
The five family members carry the continuing story, particularly Ian's change of heart. Biblical characters appear in the family's imagined scenes.
Share or combine Shepherd and Angel speeches, and distribute the Wise Men's dialogue within the group. Combining Rachel and Maggie requires changes to sibling exchanges and the final gift-opening scene.
Snowflakes provide a dance group, with an option for the cast or a soloist to sing. More angels and shepherds can join the imagined scenes.
Chairs can establish the car. The script uses illuminated cloth panels and shadows to turn the winter landscape into nativity scenes.
Nova has never been allowed to shine in the night sky. A journey past clouds, the Moon, a confident Comet and the Sun reveals that God has a purpose for even the smallest star.
